About the Event

Join us for a series of short films programmed by Chicago-based arts and culture publication Jupiter. Titled after a commencement speech delivered by Toni Morrison at Barnard College in 1979, Ambition and Nurturing Sensibilities probes at the emotional rigor required to sustain a creative practice and the intimate relationships that nourish the ground from which our artistic pursuits spring simultaneously. Including It’s Just a Fucking Opening (2025) by Josh Brainin, Camille Bacon, and Youssef Boucetta, Creative Detours (1992) by Bridgett M. Davis, L’Avance (2024) by Djiby Kebe, and all the love i could handle (2025) by Ruby Rose Collins, the program opens ground to ponder how the pursuit of our aspirations and the cultivation of our support systems are linked responsibilities.
