About the Event

In this workshop, we explore new tools, strategies, and accommodations for students with disabilities. Educators learn about inclusive language, sensory integration, differentiating instruction based on support needs, and enhancing their students’ emotional literacy and techniques for emotional regulation. If you’ve ever been curious about how to best support the needs of your students and create an accessible classroom environment for all, this workshop is for you.

About the Presenter

Ariya Hawkins is a Chicago-based actor, singer, and theater educator. She began her training in the ChiArts Musical Theatre program, and is a graduate of Millikin University with a BFA in Musical Theatre. Hawkins has relationships with several theater companies across the Chicagoland area including Goodman Theatre, Chicago Children’s Theatre, Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, A.B.L.E Ensemble, Congo Square Theatre Co., and South Chicago Dance Theatre. When she isn’t teaching, Hawkins enjoys working as an actor and performer with companies all over the country. Recent regional credits include The Color Purple (Goodman Theatre), Leaf (Lifeline Theatre), The Promotion (MPAACT), a hit dog will holler (Artemisia Theatre), Cabaret (The Studio Theatre at Tierra Del Sol), Haven (Outer Loop Theater Experience), A Raisin in the Sun, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Olney Theatre Center, National Players Tour 72). Hawkins is proud to empower people of all ages through the use of theater; all of her work is informed by the belief that art is for all of us!
