Gabriela Damián Miravete (b. Mexico City, 1979) is an author whose stories have been translated into English, Italian, Portuguese, French, Basque, and Japanese. She is the author of La canción detrás de todas las cosas (Elefanta, 2024) and They Will Dream in the Garden / Soñarán en el jardín (Rosarium Press, 2023; Alfaguara, 2025). Her stories have won the James Tiptree, Jr. Award (now known as the Otherwise Award), the Shirley Jackson Award, and the International New Star Fishing Fortress Award from the Tai Shan College of Science and Technology in China. She is a cofounder of the collaborative projects titled “Mexicona: Imagination and Future” and “Tesla Cumulus,” an art and science collective that published the book Mis pies tienen raíz (Océano Travesía, 2021).

Es autora de los libros La canción detrás de todas las cosas (Elefanta, 2024) y Soñarán en el jardín (Rosarium Press, 2023; Alfaguara, 2025). Diana Garza Islas is a textual and interdisciplinary artist. She has published six books of poetry. Her recent publications include: El sol es verde si lo miras (UANL, 2024), Black Box Named Like to Me (Ugly Duckling Presse, 2024), and Probable Synonyms of the Word Sololoy (Carrion Bloom Books, 2025). In the US her work has appeared in The Paris Review, MAYDAY, Asymptote, Waxwing, ANMLY, Denver Quarterly, Black Warrior Review, and The San Diego Poetry Annual. She is a member of the National System of Art Creators of Mexico.

Maria Gaspar is a Chicago-born, first-generation interdisciplinary artist who engages with the politics of location through installation, sculpture, sound, and performance. Gaspar’s body of work addresses spatial justice to amplify, mobilize, or divert structures of power through individual and collective gestures. Over the past decade, Gaspar has been recognized nationally for her multiyear projects that aim to dismantle borders, transcend penal matter, and transform places of precarity into sites of possibility. Gaspar has received the Guggenheim Award for Creative Arts, the Latinx Artist Fellowship, the Frieze Impact Prize, and the United States Artists Fellowship, among numerous other honors.

Maria Gaspar es una artista interdisciplinaria de primera generación, nacida en Chicago, cuyo trabajo se compromete con las políticas de la espacialidad a través de la instalación, la escultura, el sonido y el performance. Su obra aborda la justicia espacial para amplificar, movilizar o desviar las estructuras de poder mediante gestos individuales y colectivos. Durante la última década, Gaspar ha sido reconocida a nivel nacional por sus proyectos plurianuales que buscan desmantelar fronteras, trascender los problemas penales y transformar lugares de precariedad en espacios de posibilidad. Gaspar ha recibido el Premio Guggenheim de Artes Creativas, la Beca para Artistas Latinx, el Premio Frieze de Impacto y la Beca para Artistas de Estados Unidos, entre otros reconocimientos.

Stefania Gomez is a 2025 Luminarts Fellow in Poetry and a 2023 Fulbright Research Award Grantee, and a finalist for the 2024 Ruth Lilly and Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Poetry Fellowship. She has received additional fellowships from the Dirt Palace, Sewanee Writers Workshop, Lambda Literary, and the International Quilt Museum. She received her MFA in poetry at Washington University in St. Louis and is currently a PhD candidate in English at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Stefania Gomez ha sido ganadora de la Beca Luminarts de Poesía 2025 y de la Beca Fulbright de Investigación 2023, y finalista de la Beca de Poesía Ruth Lilly y Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg 2024. También ha sido merecedora de otras becas, por ejemplo la del Dirt Palace, del Sewanee Writers Workshop, de Lambda Literary y del International Quilt Museum. Obtuvo su MFA en poesía por parte de la Universidad Washington de San Luis y actualmente es candidata al doctorado en literatura inglesa por parte de la Universidad de Illinois en Chicago.

Ana Hernández (b. 1991, Santo Domingo Tehuantepec, Oaxaca) is a Mexican visual artist and a graduate of the Escuela de Bellas Artes de Oaxaca, and the CEACO Contemporary Art Specialization Clinics. Part of her training was received from the Instituto de Artes Gráficas de Oaxaca (IAGO). Her wide production of work encompasses diverse techniques ranging from silkscreen printing to wood carving, and involves traditional sound, textile and visual languages of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec. The artist addresses themes such as migration, language, and family, stemming from personal interests that draw from the exchange of knowledge within the community. Hernández’s work represents a vindication of the art of the original peoples and its contemporary reflection.

Ana Hernández (1991, Santo Domingo Tehuantepec, Oaxaca) es una artista visual mexicana, graduada de la Escuela de Bellas Artes de Oaxaca, con participación en las Clínicas de Especialización en Arte Contemporáneo para Oaxaca (CEACO). Su amplia producción artística abarca diversas técnicas, que van desde la serigrafía hasta la talla en madera; en las cuales involucra lenguajes sonoros y textiles tradicionales,  así como lenguajes visuales del Istmo de Tehuantepec. La artista aborda temas como la migración, la lengua y la familia, a partir de intereses personales que se nutren desde el intercambio de saberes de la comunidad. La obra de Hernández representa una reivindicación del arte desde los pueblos originarios y su reflejo contemporáneo.

Born in 1956 in Mexico City, Magali Lara resides in Cuernavaca, Morelos, where she teaches painting at the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Morelos. She studied Visual Arts at ENAP and has been a member of the Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte since 1994. In 2023, Lara was appointed as a full member of the Academia de Artes, CONACULTA, INBAL, MX. Recognized in 2022 for 20 years of service at UAEM, she received a grant from the Sistema Nacional de Creadores for 2021–23 and was awarded the Medal of Bellas Artes, Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura, INBAL, MX, 2024.

Lara’s work evidences a deep relationship between literature and visual arts; as she says, “the idea of visual poetry is central for most of my work” her practice encompasses painting, drawing, ceramics, tapestry, and video animation, often exploring the interplay between literature and visual art. Notable exhibitions include Magali Lara. Cinco décadas en espiral at MUAC, CDMX (2025); Magali Lara: Interior Landscapes at The Institute of Fine Arts, New York University, and ISLAA Duke House Exhibition, New York, USA (2024); and TRÓPICO FANTASMÁTICO: BORRAMIENTOS at La Tallera, Cuernavaca, Morelos, MX (2023). Critic Jose Luis Barrios characterizes her work as a blend of hospitality and hostility, evolving from early depictions of domestic items to provocative floral paintings.

Renowned for her artists’ books, Lara integrates text and image, exploring various graphic processes. In 2024, she undertook the commissioned piece LA VOZ DE LA MONTAÑA, LETEO for BIENAL FEMSA in León, Guanajuato, MX, following her 2023 co-curation project on Alternative Publications at Museo del Chopo, UNAM, MX, and a collaborative project with Carmen Boullosa for DIA Art Foundation, WE CAN’T SLEEP, NY, USA. Her recent projects prompt reflections on existence and creative collaboration.

Nacida en 1956 en la Ciudad de México, Magali Lara reside en Cuernavaca, Morelos, donde imparte clases de pintura en la Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Morelos. Estudió artes visuales en la ENAP y es miembro del Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte desde 1994. En 2023, fue nombrada miembro titular de la Academia de Artes, CONACULTA, INBAL, México. Reconocida en 2022 por sus 20 años de servicio en la UAEM, recibió una beca del Sistema Nacional de Creadores para el periodo 2021-23 y fue galardonada con la Medalla de Bellas Artes del Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura, INBAL, México, en 2024.

La obra de Lara muestra una profunda relación entre la literatura y las artes visuales; como ella misma afirma, “la idea de la poesía visual es central en la mayor parte de mi obra.” Su práctica abarca la pintura, el dibujo, la cerámica, el tapiz y la video animación, explorando a menudo la interacción entre la literatura y las artes visuales. Entre sus exposiciones más destacadas se incluyen “Magali Lara. Cinco décadas en espiral” en el MUAC, CDMX; “Magali Lara: Paisajes Interiores” en el Instituto de Bellas Artes de la Universidad de Nueva York e ISLAA Duke House Exhibition, Nueva York, EE. UU. (2024); y “Trópico Fantasmático: borramientos” en La Tallera, Cuernavaca, Morelos, México (2023). Reconocida por sus libros de artista, Lara integra texto e imagen, explorando diversos procesos gráficos. En 2024, realizó la pieza comisionada “La voz de la montaña, Leteo” para la BIENAL FEMSA en León, Guanajuato, México, seguida por su proyecto de co-curaduría de 2023 sobre Publicaciones Alternativas en el Museo del Chopo, UNAM, México, y un proyecto colaborativo con Carmen Boullosa para la Fundación de Arte DIA, “No podemos dormir”, Nueva York, EE. UU. Sus proyectos recientes invitan a reflexionar sobre la existencia y la colaboración creativa.

Damon Locks is a Chicago-based visual artist, educator, and vocalist/musician. He attended the Art Institute of Chicago where he received his BFA in fine arts. Since 2014 he has been working with the Prisons and Neighborhood Arts Project at Stateville Correctional Center teaching art. He is a 2025 recipient of the Creative Capital Award. In 2017 he became a Soros Justice Media Fellow. He received a Helen Coburn Meier and Tim Meier Achievement Award in the Arts in 2015. In 2019, he became a 3Arts Awardee. He spent four years as an artist in residence as a part of the MCA’s SPACE Program, introducing civically engaged art into the curriculum at Sarah E. Goode STEM Academy High School. He teaches Improvisation in the Sound Department at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Locks leads the Black Monument Ensemble, is a member of New Future City Radio and Exploding Star Orchestra, and cofounded the band The Eternals.

Damon Locks es un artista visual, educador, cantante y músico residente en Chicago. Estudió en el Instituto de Arte de Chicago, donde obtuvo su Licenciatura en Bellas Artes. Desde 2014, colabora con el Proyecto de Arte en Prisiones y Barrios del Centro Correccional de Stateville, impartiendo clases de arte. Recibió el Premio Nacional Capital Creativo en 2025. En 2017, obtuvo la beca Soros Justice Media. También fue acreedor del Premio al Logro en las Artes Helen Coburn Meier y Tim Meier en 2015. En 2019, recibió el Premio 3Arts. Margarita Saona has taught Latin American literature at the University of Illinois at Chicago for more than two decades. Both her creative and academic work revolve around memory, the body, phenomenology, and the senses. Her short fiction texts are collected in La ciudad en que no estás (Cocodrilo Ediciones, 2020) and translated into English under the title The Ghost of You (Laberinto Press, 2023). She has also published a collection of poems, Corazón de hojalata/ Tin heart (Pandora Lobo Estepario Productions, 2017); an essay on surgical interventions, De monstruos y cyborgs (Pandora Lobo Estepario Productions 2023); and a memoir, Corazón en trance: Bitácora de una sobreviviente (Peisa Peru, 2024).

Margarita Saona es profesora de Literatura Latinoamericana en la Universidad de Illinois en Chicago desde hace más de dos décadas. Tanto su trabajo creativo como el académico giran en torno a la memoria, el cuerpo, la fenomenología y los sentidos. Sus textos de ficción breve fueron recogidos en La ciudad en que no estás (Cocodrilo Ediciones, 2020) y traducidos al inglés con el título The Ghost of You (Laberinto Press, 2023). También ha publicado un poemario titulado Corazón de hojalata/ Tin heart (Pandora Lobo Estepario Productions, 2017), a partir de su experiencia con algunas intervenciones quirúrgicas; también, De monstruos y cyborgs (Pandora Lobo Estepario Productions, 2023), y un libro de memorias: Corazón en trance: Bitácora de una sobreviviente (Peisa Perú, 2024).

TAITAI+/-/x/÷Tina (she/it) grew up in Latin America within American schools as a Taiwanese citizen. She is committed to making artworks that exalt the aesthetics and stories of the grotesque, in-between, in-process, wavering, glitchy, and unsmooth body. It obtained a BA in dance and psychology at Washington University, and a Certificate in contemporary dance performance at the Peridance Capezio Center. She began her visual arts training working as a performer for other artists in New York in 2014 and continued her studies, receiving an MFA from the University of Chicago in 2023. Recent showings at venues and artist spaces include Ely Center of Contemporary Arts (New Haven, CT), W.I.H.S.H Projects (Chicago, IL), Siren Arts (Asbury Park, NJ), and the Graham Foundation (Chicago, IL).

TAITAI+/-/x/÷Tina (ella/esa) se crió en latinoamérica como ciudadana taiwanesa. Su trabajo destaca con fuerza las cualidades estéticas y las narrativas del cuerpo humano como ente grotesco, intermedio, en proceso, vacilante, imperfecto y áspero. Realizó sus estudios en danza y psicología en la Universidad de Washington, y obtuvo su certificación en performance y danza contemporánea por parte del Centro Peridance Capezio. Comenzó su formación en artes visuales trabajando como un performer para otrxs artistas en Nueva York en 2014 y continuó sus estudios recibiendo una maestría de la Universidad de Chicago en 2023. Recientemente ha expuesto en salas y espacios artísticos como el Ely Center of Contemporary Arts (New Haven, CT), W.I.H.S.H Projects (Chicago, IL), Siren Arts (Asbury Park, NJ) y la Graham Foundation (Chicago, IL).
