About the Event

The 2025–26 Teacher Institute culminates in a public symposium that presents the cohort’s projects and related resources produced during the year, celebrating and reflecting on their time together. The Teacher Institute focuses on supporting teachers in developing student-centered projects that give students an active role in the development, implementation, and documentation of socially engaged curricula.

This year’s presenting cohort is:

  • Lauren Griffin; Foster Park Fine & Performance Arts Elementary
  • Katie Schmelzer: KIPP Academy Chicago Primary School
  • Kathryn Paull: Great Lakes Academy,
  • Jayla Neely: Wentworth Elementary;
  • Oscar ‘O’ Villalobos III: National Teachers Academy
  • Daphne Hill: Proviso East High School
  • Silvia Morales: Ogden International High School
