About the Event
Summer Tuesdays come alive on the MCA terrace with free concerts highlighting artists from Chicago’s internationally renowned music community. Enjoy live music while relaxing on the lawn with your own picnic or savor snacks and drinks available for purchase. Then head inside to catch the MCA’s summer exhibitions—we’re open late on Tuesdays and free for Illinois residents.
This week Human Bloom makes their terrace debut. Led by guitarist Jackson Shepard and vocalist Imani Rousselle, their sound weaves together psychedelic soul, improvisation, heavy grooves, experimental styles, and stories that speak to your soul.
About the Artist
Human Bloom is the collaboratively eclectic and exploratory project by Jackson Shepard and Imani Rousselle. Their most recent album, Ex+Ordinary, released in 2023, was created in the midst of the 2020 global shutdown, and delves into the complex experiences and emotions Rousselle and Shepard confronted in that time. Human Bloom’s debut album, Nightshade, explores experimental electronica, free jazz, funk, art rap, and neo soul. Neon Pajamas describes it as “one hell of a psychedelic experience.” Their song “Capillary” has been streamed five million times, and has been covered internationally by different artists.
Funding
Tuesdays on the Terrace is presented by NBC 5 and Telemundo Chicago.
