Summer Tuesdays come alive on the MCA terrace with free concerts highlighting artists from Chicago’s internationally renowned music community. Enjoy live music while relaxing on the lawn with your own picnic, or savor snacks and drinks available for purchase. Then head inside to catch the MCA’s summer exhibitions—we’re open late on Tuesdays and free for Illinois residents.
This week, the powerhouse vocal trio Nadima-Chi brings their potent blend of jazz, R&B, and pop to the MCA terrace. An amalgam of their names, Nadima-Chi is comprised of Nanette Frank, Diane Madison, and Mae Koen. With undeniable chemistry, they deliver a rich and soulful sound that brings decades of experience performing alongside legends like Aretha Franklin, Otis Clay, and Billy Branch.
About the Artists
Nadima-Chi is a female vocal unit comprised of Nanette Frank, Diane Madison, and Mae Koen. Collectively, Nadima-Chi has lent background vocals to some of the most popular artists such as Aretha Franklin, Otis Clay, Brian Culbertson, Phil Perry, Vesta, Angela Bofill, Miki Howard, Billy Branch, Willie Dixon, Mississippi Heat, and Linda Clifford. Now, these three consummate professionals are striking out on their own. Their performances have taken them around the world to such places as China, Italy, Japan, Poland, Singapore, and Switzerland. They have performed at venues such Blues Alley, City Winery, Carnegie Hall, The Apollo theater, Madison Square Garden, and the Chicago Theater, among others. Additionally, their television appearances have included The View, VH-1, and Soul Train, and on talk shows with Arsenio Hall, Jay Leno, and David Letterman. Nadima’s sound covers a broad range of musical genres including world music, jazz, R&B, and pop. Their latest album Allegria will be available soon on all music platforms.
