About the Event
The 2024–25 Teacher Institute culminates in a public symposium that presents the cohort’s projects and related resources produced during the year, celebrating and reflecting on their time together.
This year’s dynamic curriculum share-out features educators from schools such as Jesse Owens, Wolcott College Prep, Skinner West, University of Chicago Charter-Donoghue, KIPP Academy Chicago Primary, Marshall High School, Hyde Park, Morton, Ralph Ellison, and Alex Haley Academy presenting innovative lesson plans and projects inspired by featured artists from MCA exhibitions. Drawing from the powerful works of Andrea Carlson, Do Ho Suh, Arthur Jafa, Wafaa Bilal, and Virginia Jaramillo, teachers showcase how contemporary art can foster critical thinking, creativity, and engagement in the classroom. This share-out is an opportunity for educators to exchange ideas, celebrate their work, and explore new ways to integrate contemporary art into their teaching practices.
The Teacher Institute focuses on supporting teachers in developing student-centered projects that give students an active role in the development, implementation, and documentation of socially engaged curricula.
