MCA Code of Conduct

Line drawing of a heart

To our community,

The MCA aims to be a welcoming, judgment-free space where visitors and staff practice kindness and tolerance and embrace each other’s differences.

We ask that you show common courtesy to those around you by not engaging in any form of harassment, discriminatory or threatening behavior, or interference with the experience of others. The MCA reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to require that any person acting in an unacceptable manner leave the premises.

Thank you for joining us, and please enjoy your visit.

For the safety of the art, we ask that you:

  • Do not touch the art.
  • Stay at a safe distance from artworks, remain behind safety barriers, and follow any posted directions to prevent accidents.
  • Check backpacks or wear them completely on the front of your body. Suitcases and umbrellas are not allowed in the galleries and must be checked at coat check.
  • Do not bring food, drinks, or water bottles into the galleries.
  • Use a pencil if you are drawing or taking notes in the galleries. Pens are not allowed. If you need a pencil, ask at admissions desk.
  • You are welcome to take photos, but remember to turn off your flash. Tripods are not allowed.

By entering the space, you’re agreeing:

  • To this Code of Conduct.
  • To practice safe hygiene.
  • To be kind. We appreciate your respect for our staff who are working hard to make this a place of respite, reflection, and art.

Children under twelve should be always accompanied by an adult during their visit. If you have any questions, please ask a member of our Visitor Experience team.
